Fofter, who referred to his cre Maffachusetts, VOL. dentials dated the 18th of February 1783, read in Congrefs the 29th July laft, and recorded in the book of credentials, page 83. Mr. E. Gerry, who produced a certifi cate under the feal of the state, figned John Avery, fecretary, and dated the 23d of October 1783; fetting forth, that he was elected on the 27th June laft, by joint ballot of both houfes of affembly, a delegate to reprefent that commonwealth in the Congrels of the United States of America. Maffachusetts, Mr. S. Ofgood, who produced a let ter from the faid J. Avery, dared 9th July 1783, informing him, that he was elected that day by joint balJot of the fenate and houfe of repre fenta:ives, agreeable to the conftituti on, to serve as a delegate from that commonwealth in the United States in Congress affembled, for one year, to commence the firft Monday in November. Rhode Island and 2 Providence Plantations, Mr. W. Ellery and Mr. D. HowSell, who referred to the cre Connecticut, New-York, dentials read in Congress the goth of June last, and regi stered in book of credentials, page 76. Mr. S. Huntington and Mr. B. Hun tington, who produced credentials under the feal of the state, and figned George Wyllis, fecretary; by which it appears, that at a general affembly of the governor and company of the state of Connecticut, in America, holden at Hartford on the fecond Thursday of May, A. D. 1783, the honorable Samuel Huntington, the honorable Oliver Ellfworth, the honorable Oliver Wolcott, the ho. norable Benjamin Huntington, Jedediah Strong, efquire, Stephen Mix Mitchell, efquire, and the ho norable Richard Law, were elected and publicly declared to be delegates to reprefent that ftate in the Congress of the United States, according to law. Mr. James Duane, who referred to the credentials of the delegates of that ftate, produced and read the 25th of November 1782, and registered in the book of credentials, page 48.
